Remote Senior Data Engineer - Cloud & Big Data

Our client, a leading innovator in data-driven solutions, is seeking an experienced Remote Senior Data Engineer to join their fully remote engineering team. This position is crucial for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data infrastructure and pipelines that support advanced analytics and business intelligence initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in cloud computing platforms, big data technologies, and data warehousing concepts. You will play a key role in transforming raw data into actionable insights, enabling informed decision-making across the organization. Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and optimize robust, scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes using cloud-native services and big data technologies. Build and maintain data warehouses, data lakes, and data marts optimized for performance and accessibility. Implement data quality frameworks and ensure the reliability, accuracy, and consistency of data across the organization. Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver effective data solutions. Develop and manage data infrastructure on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. Implement data security best practices and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations. Automate data processes, monitoring, and alerting systems to ensure operational efficiency. Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance data engineering capabilities. Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in production environments. Contribute to the development of data governance policies and procedures. Mentor junior data engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field. 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on cloud platforms and big data technologies. Proficiency in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and its data services (e.g., S3, Redshift, EMR, Glue, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, BigQuery). Strong expertise in SQL and experience with various database technologies (relational and NoSQL). Hands-on experience with big data processing frameworks like Spark, Hadoop, or similar. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Scala for data manipulation and pipeline development. Experience with data warehousing concepts, data modeling, and ETL/ELT best practices. Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus. Understanding of data governance, data quality, and data security principles. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment. Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is beneficial.
