Coordinates all Quarry Operations from Overburden Stripping to Crushed Limestone Productions
Responsible for strict adherence of health and Safety of both staff and contractors
Responsible for Yearly, Monthly and Weekly extraction plan.
Ensures deviations from the plan is avoided and/or adjust the plan to present reality.
Liaise with government officials on issue related to explosives, permits and lasting certification of the blaster
MAIN ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate all quarry face operations and report to the Quarry Manager. These include; overburden removal by contractors, drilling, blasting, loading, haulage, crushing, dewatering, perimeter drainage, haulage route constructions and maintenance and face development
Ensure that plants and machineries are available at all time through proper checks with the contractors.
Conduct risk assessment for all maintenance works.
Control the supply of limestone in terms of quality and quantity to meets the production needs.
Inspect the work site to ensure daily operation are carried out safely as planned
Coordinate blasting operations and ensure that blasting monitoring readings are taking and kept.
Responsible for plants and machineries are availability at all time through proper checks with the contractors.
Conduct risk assessment for all maintenance works.
Control the supply of limestone in terms of quality and quantity to meets the production needs
Inspect the work site to ensure daily operation are carried out safely as planned
Responsible for effective utilization of work force (staffs and contractors) and appraise immediate subordinate.
Coordinate blasting operations and ensure that blasting monitoring readings are taking and kept
Ensure that explosives are well kept at the magazine, and issues are properly monitored and recorded. (Inform the quarry manager of explosives stocks min./max and arrange for restock of explosives)
Ensure that staffs and contractors follow work instructions, procedures and adhere to rules and regulations during operations.
Up to date on quarry tools like QM, QSO and Autocad
Inform Quarry Manager concerning the blending recipe: loading points and quantities
Administering the department i.e. reports preparations and act for Quarry Manager whenever he is on annual leave or on official engagement.
Compliance with LafargeHolcim OH&S standards and environmental regulations

PROFILE REQUIRED
University degree or HND in Mining Engineering
Specific Work experience:
At least 1 year experience in similar role
Knowledge of English
PC Literacy i.e. MS Office, QM, QSO, AutoCAD full operational use
Technical / Functional Skills:
Knowledge of blasting and drilling
Knowledge in geotechnical (slope stability)
Basic mining knowledge (crushing, screening etc.)
Quarry production and crushing operations
OHS&E and mining legislation
Good written and oral communication skills
Strong computer Skills especially Excel, word, PowerPoint and email applications
